Sapphire Falls' bakers did our wedding cake, and we couldn't have been happier. We wanted something simple and not too traditional: my friend's husband (an artist) was making us some art-deco metal cake stands, so we wanted each layer on a separate stand, with lots of fresh-fruit puree on top. In addition, we wanted something that tasted REALLY good, since we weren't having any other desserts and we had been to too many weddings where the gorgeous cake tasted like crumbly cardboard. The cakes were perfectly suited to our early fall wedding, with bright apricot and raspberry colors on top of thick white tiers, and gorgeous fresh roses as toppers. Not only did they look perfect; everyone at the wedding (which wasn't too formal) was coming back and helping themselves to big slices of seconds: people STILL tell me two years later how great that cake tasted. It was moist, lemony, and delicious. I couldn't imagine finding another bakery that would produce something that tasty *and* work with me so closely to suit a design to my needs.

I am not a cake person ... I used to say I was allergic to birthday cake as a child because they were always so dry and tasteless and therefore depressing ... I like to eat pie! But I recently had a Sapphire Falls cake and it converted me! I now find myself wanting to actually make myself a birthday cake (or maybe I'll just order from them). To look at these cakes is a feast in itself, but tasting them is the true prize! Imagine the finest chocolate batter poured into a cake pan and coming out of the oven with the same moisture, yet more delicate in texture. If you want to celebrate your aging properly or mark a special event, you must try their cakes (and try their pies on the odd days).
